Child molestation suspect lures kids with candy

New Port Richey, Florida-- Pasco Sheriff's deputies are warning parents of a possible molester, who they say recently used candy to trick two child victims. 

According to reports, the man approached the nine-year-olds, one boy and one girl, around 8 p.m. in the 6000 block of 9th Avenue last Friday.

Investigators say they believe he used candy to lead the children behind a nearby vacant home, where he then made inappropriate contact with them.

Pasco man accused of killing, burying puppies

New Port Richey, Florida -- A Pasco County man is facing felony animal cruelty charges for allegedly killing a litter of pit bull puppies and burying them in the back yard.

According to his arrest report, 21-year-old David Thompson was at his friend Martin Smith's house helping him move on Friday when they discussed what to do with four 8-week-old pit bull puppies that were in the back yard.

Smith's father, Timothy Smith, allegedly suggested to them that they "take them into the woods and beat their heads in."

Tampa, Florida-- The numbers are in, and they are up! More homes were sold last month in the Tampa Bay area than in in the past seven years combined.

According to MLS figures, 3,100 homes were sold in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties last month, a 7 percent increase compared to the same month in 2012.

Home sales prices also increased, up 22 percent over the same time period. 

The average home in the Tampa Bay area sold for $150,000.

The Taste of Pasco takes place from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at 15323 State Road 52 in Land O’Lakes, and will help NAMI Pasco, a local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, furnish its new base of operations in Land O’ Lakes. NAMI Pasco recently held an open house to showcase the building to the public.

Pasco student accused of strangling teacher

New Port Richey, Florida - A 13-year-old boy who stands 5'11 and weighs 240 pounds is accused of strangling his teacher on Thursday.

The incident took place midday at AMI Kids School, a facility contracted by the Pasco County School District to help at risk youth.

According to an affidavit from the New Port Richey Police Department, the teacher tried to split up an argument between the suspect and another student who were fighting over a seat in class.
