Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Pasco County, Florida -- On Saturday, April 27, the City of Port Richey Police Department will be participating in the sixth Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative. 

The Drug Enforcement Administration sponsors this event so that a one-day collaborative effort can be made to remove potentially dangerous prescription drugs from our nation's homes.

13-year-old chokes Pasco teacher

New Port Richey, Florida -- A 13-year-old student at AMI Kids Pasco was arrested at school Thursday morning after he attacked his teacher who tried to get between him and another student.

Fellow classmates told police the teen was getting into it with another student over a seat in the classroom when the teacher stepped in. That's when, they say, he put the teacher in a choke hold, cutting off her airway -- and he continued until other students pulled him off of her.

Pasco Sheriff's captain wins world bench press championship

Pasco County, Florida -- Pasco Sheriff's Captain Mike Ferrantelli is the world champion of the bench press.

The sheriff's office announced Friday morning, Ferrantelli won the 2013 Masters Bench Press World Championship held in Prague, Czech Republic on April 18 - 21.

Ferrantelli won the Gold Medal for the United States bench pressing 578.8 lbs. to win the competition in his class. He is a captain with the PSO's Court Services Bureau.

New Port Richey, Florida -- Mr. Russell Buckland is a 3rd Degree Black Belt, assistant instructor and a beloved friend to many.

He began his training under Chief Master Clark in Jacksonville and has been training at an academy in Tampa, along with his 13-year-old son Bryce, a 1st Degree Black Belt, for the past 10 years.

Recently, Mr. Buckland was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

As a 47-year-old devoted father, Mr. Buckland is determined to beat this disease; but to do so, he needs our help!

Pasco County, Florida -- In recognition of Earth Day, Habitat for Humanity of East & Central Pasco County invites its supporters to recycle their used cars and vehicles to help build hope and homes in partnership with low-income families in East & Central Pasco County.

Troubled assisted living facility ordered to close

New Port Richey, Florida - "I hope they do!" That's the reaction of Jennifer Burns upon learning that the state wants to close the Hillandale Assisted Living Facility. 

Burns lives across the state from the home and says it's clear clients there suffer abuse.

"Verbally, it's horrible," says Burns. "Any cuss word you can imagine, they say it to the residents-constantly screaming at them."

Hillandale opened in 2005 and cares for clients that tend to be younger who suffer from mental illness, or who have mental challenges.

Prices vary on sketches. Guests can also pick up an exclusive 10th anniversary shirt or print.
