Man accused of biting baby | Crime

New Port Richey, Florida -- Police say a Pasco County man has been arrested for biting a 5-month-old baby and threatening the child's mother with a knife.

21-year-old Matthew Barbosa is charged with child abuse, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and domestic battery. 

New Port Richey Police say an argument between Barbosa and the baby's mother became physical, first with Barbosa allegedly grabbing the woman by the throat and then threatening her with a knife.

Investigators say Barbosa then bit the child on the cheek, leaving a bruise.

Barbosa is currently out on $15,000 bond.  Jail records show he was arrested last year for aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, but it is not clear if the victim is the same person in this case.
