Stamp Out Hunger - leave food at your mailbox on Saturday

Tampa, Florida --  The U.S. Postal Service and its letter carriers ask Tampa residents to join them and the rest of the nation in combating one of the U.S' growing problems, hunger, by leaving food at your mailboxes on Saturday, May 12. 

According to USPS, this one-day food drive is the nation’s largest single-day food drive across America — including Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

"Fun Fridays" ages 13 and up!

New Port Richey, Florida - If you're looking for some good fun for your children, a local church is offering some Fun Friday activity.

The event is at Fellowship Baptist Church and Academy starting Friday, May 11 at 7 p.m.

The location is 5940 Massachutsetts Ave. in New Port Richey.

If you or anyone you know is in the 7th grade or at least 13 years old is now officially invited to the church on Friday evenings.

There will be games, snacks, and fun.

The event is free!

Ready for some kayak racing?

Port Richey, Florida - Get ready for some fun on the water!

The Salt Springs Classic Kayak Race & Fun Paddle is coming up soon.  The event is a 5 and a half mile open-water and river course.

In year's past, it has been called the "Nature Coast's premier kayak competition."

The paddling begins at 9 a.m. sharp on May 12.

New Port Richey, Florida -- Are you a natural poet?

Do you have a goal of sharing your work with others?

Here's your chance! There is an official open mic night every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month.

The event is free and goes from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Progress Energy Art Gallery, 6231 Grand Blvd., in New Port Richey.

The next one will be held on Friday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to read or just sit back and listen!

New Port Richey, Florida -  Do you want to learn how to country dance?  Do you want to get some good exercise?

Now is the time for Line Dancing Lessons!

Starting on Tuesday and every Tuesday after that, you can learn in the evenings. It is $5.00 per class.

For the first half hour from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m., there are actually free dance steps lessons.  Then, it's $5 after that.

New Port Richey, Florida-- On Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m., the New Port Richey Library hosts the free event, Forks Over Knives.  

The library describes the event:

"This film examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods.
