Free cancer screenings on Melanoma Monday

Pinellas County, Florida -- Florida Hospital North Pinellas invites the community to join them for free skin cancer screenings in honor of “Melanoma Monday” on May 6 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM.

World-renowned Surgical Oncologist, Douglas S. Reintgen, M.D., and Director of Oncology, Rosemary Giuliano, ARNP, will host the event at the Surgical Institute located on the hospital campus at 1501 Alternate 19 South, Suite T, Tarpon Springs.

Pasco County celebrates asthma awareness month

Pasco County, Florida -- In the United States alone, an average of one out of every 10 school aged children have asthma, one of the leading most common serious chronic diseases of childhood.

Local data states that 22.4% of youth ages 1-17 in Pasco County reported experiencing lifetime asthma. In addition, asthma is the leading cause of hospital emergency department visits and school absenteeism.

Free tools to quit smoking

Pasco County, Florida -- Gulfcoast North Area Health Education Center is partnering with Pasco County Health Department to offer a FREE 2.5 hour quit tobacco program to anyone interested in quitting tobacco use.

The program provides optional FREE nicotine replacement therapy including patches, lozenge or gum. It is sponsored by the Florida Department of Health.

Boil water notice

New Port Richey, Florida -- There is a boil water notices for South Pinehill Road, East of U.S. 19.

This includes Washington Street and Grand Blvd.

This is due to a water main break at River Gulf and Grand Blvd. Crews have repaired the break but as a precaution are advising residents to boil water.

This notices is in effect until further notice.
