(WTSP/PNJ) -- Along with the presidential race, a U.S. Senate race, and a smattering of local offices to be decided on Nov. 6, 11 proposed amendments to the state Constitution also are on the ballot.
Five of the proposed amendments seek decreases in taxes. The rest deal with issues as diverse as abortion, state funding for religious organizations and the configuration of the board of governors of the State University System.
The amendments are numbered 1 through 12, but proposed Amendment No. 7, concerning funding for religious groups was removed by the state Supreme Court as too misleading and replaced with Amendment 8.
