Single mom Natalie and her three children are enjoying a day at the park. But days weren't always this much fun.
"My ex-husband, he knocked my teeth out. He threatened to slit my throat, and it got progressively worse," Natalie recalls.
She lived out of state in a nine-year marriage, enduring seven years of abuse. She did not know where to turn.
"The hardest part was trying to get away."
Once Natalie was able to get a restraining order and move to Florida, she found help with Sunrise of Pasco County. Through counseling, support and a place to live without the worry of being found, Natalie was able to get her life back for her and her kids.
"It wasn't until I broke away from the relationship and learning through Sunrise that I was able to hold my head up high," Natalie says.
With the help from Sunrise, Natalie has completed a bachelors degree in healthcare administration and is working on her MBA in marketing with a 4.0. GPA. She is now looking for work and a new place that her family can call home.
