Man shot, killed by deputy in Hudson | News
HUDSON, Florida -- A Pasco County deputy is on administrative leave after shooting a killing a man on Christmas day.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Cpl. Jose Valenzuela responded to reports of gun rounds hitting several houses on Southwind Drive Sunday evening. When the deputy arrived, he found a man and his girlfriend in their front yard, struggling over a shotgun.
When Valenzuela ordered the pair to drop the weapon, the man, 49-year-old Brian Keith Naab, pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the deputy. Valenzuela then reportedly opened fire, shooting Naab multiple times.
Pasco Fire Rescue provided emergency medical service to Naab, but he died at the scene. No one else was injured.
Valenzuela, a nine-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, is on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
