Pasco County, Florida -- The Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department will be temporarily closing the boardwalk/fishing pier at Anclote Gulf Park temporarily. 

The closure is due to construction that will begin on Monday, May 13. 

The park will be closed daily at dusk until the repairs have been completed.

Pasco County hovernment hosts community meetings

Pasco County, Florida -- The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners will host three community meetings to discuss several topics including the 2013-2017 Strategic Plan, FY 2013-14 Budget, Penny for Pasco, road maintenance needs, and the upcoming National Citizen Survey (NCS) to be conducted May 3 - June 14.  The Board of County Commissioners will use the opinions and ideas shared during these meetings and from surveys to assist with upcoming budget decisions.

Communication Concepts chooses Pasco County

Pasco County, Florida -- The Pasco Economic Development Council, Inc. is pleased to announce that Communication Concepts, Inc. (CCI), a fast growing technology company, has signed a lease on a 5,000 square foot building located in the West Pasco Industrial Park in Odessa.

CCI needed room to grow and chose Pasco County after evaluating several locations. The company expansion is bringing 20 new jobs to Pasco County with an average annual wage of $48,000, approximately 150 percent of the Pasco County average annual wage.

Law enforcement memorial to honor fallen officers

Pasco, Florida -- Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco invites the public to attend the 2013 Pasco Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service, scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

The event will take place on the north lawn of the Historic Courthouse, located at 37918 Meridian Avenue in Dade City.

The memorial honors eight officers killed in the line of duty in Pasco County from 1909 with Deputy Sheriff Shelly Nicks to 2011 when Hernando County Deputy Sheriff John Mecklenburg was killed in Pasco County while pursuing a driver on U.S. Highway 41.

Cold weather shelter to open Saturday, Sunday nights

Pasco County, Florida -- With a cold front moving through the area this weekend bringing temperatures down to the 30's, Pasco County officials have decided to open a cold weather shelter Saturday and Sunday nights.

These low temperatures and wind chills are dangerous to anyone who will be outside for a long period of time. Children, the elderly and pets are especially vulnerable to the cold and extra care should be taken to protect them. Make sure to bundle up and dress in layers to keep as warm as possible.

Salt Springs Alliance Membership Breakfast

Port Richey, Florida -- Salt Springs Alliance, the Citizen Support Organization (CSO) for Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park, is hosting it's annual Membership Breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The breakfast starts at 9 a.m. and will be at the CSO headquarters at 9120 Old Post Road in Port Richey. There will be plenty to eat, so be sure to bring your appetite!

The event is free, although reservations are required.

Florida State Parks announces new, free mobile app

Florida-- Trees, lakes, trails, wildlife- they're all things that come to mind when thinking about Florida's parks. Techonology, smartphones and applications, howeverm are probably the last things to come to mind- until now!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.
